To keep on top of your health it is important to have regular checks with your doctor.  Not just when you are sick.  By having regular checks, you may get early warning of problems that you would not be aware of.

Eat Well

Probably the most important part of keeping a healthy body is eating healthy foods.  We all know what healthy foods are – vegetables, fruit, nuts, lean meat, and grains.  We also know to avoid saturated fats and excess calories.

Exercise

Exercise is another important key to healthy living.  The level of exercise will vary on you lifestyle and age, but lots of exercise is a must for better health and a better body.  Walking, running, cycling, and swimming are all great exercise, but you should also consider a team sport which will make exercising a lot more fun.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Know what your ideal weight should be and check it regularly.  If your weight starts getting a little high, then it is time to change your diet, or increase your exercise level.

It is best to know if you have a blood pressure of cholesterol problem so it can be detected and treated.  Regular checks are important to ensure you are within the normal accepted range.

The dangers of smoking are widely published, and all of us are aware of the health issues associated with smoking.  If you are a smoker, then kicking the habit will definitely improve your health.  There are many programs available to assist quitting smoking.

Drink in Moderation

Excess alcohol consumption can also have a negative impact on your health.  A few drinks are normally acceptable, but too much alcohol affects the body in many ways.

Use Sun Protection

The sun can cause severe damage to your skin, including skin cancer and melanomas.  It is great to have a tan, but beware of the dangers involved with too much exposure to the sun.  Wear sunscreen, a hat and long sleeves to avoid damage from the sun.
